WBBL|12 standings: no official table yet

The Weber WBBL|12 season has not started. Cricket Australia lists the competition dates as 29 October to 5 December 2026, with the opening double-header scheduled for 29 October. Its official series page currently shows the Standings section as “Sorry, nothing here yet!”, so there is no verified WBBL|12 ladder to report at this check. 1

That means every club begins this page without a published rank, match count, win total, loss total, tie count, no-result count, net run rate or points total. Those fields are intentionally shown as unavailable rather than zero. A zero would supply a value that the official page has not yet published. Keeping the field unavailable avoids implying that an official table already exists before the first ball.

The eight WBBL clubs are listed alphabetically for this preseason snapshot: Adelaide Strikers, Brisbane Heat, Hobart Hurricanes, Melbourne Renegades, Melbourne Stars, Perth Scorchers, Sydney Sixers and Sydney Thunder. Once the official table is populated, the display should switch to Cricket Australia’s published order. For fixtures and results, use the WBBL schedule; team background is available on the WBBL teams page.

The season is a 43-match, 38-day competition. Cricket Australia’s schedule announcement says the regular season concludes on 29 November, followed by a three-match finals series and a final on 5 December. 2 This is the current WBBL|12 schedule information, not a men’s BBL template.

How WBBL points are awarded

Cricket Australia’s rules hub currently links the latest detailed domestic WBBL document as the 2025–26 WBBL|11 Playing Conditions. It does not yet list a WBBL|12 playing-conditions document. 3 Until a WBBL|12 document is published or confirmed, the scoring rules below are the latest official published WBBL provisions and should be read with that season label.

Under those conditions, a win earns two competition points. A loss earns none. A no-result or ordinary abandoned match gives one point to each team. A match that finishes level earns one point each only when a Super Over is not possible. 4

This distinction matters because a tied score normally triggers the tie procedure rather than immediately becoming a one-point draw. In a completed tie, both teams have scored the same number of runs, and wickets lost do not break the tie. The match then proceeds to a Super Over under the published WBBL procedure. 4

Super Over rules and tied matches

In the latest official WBBL conditions, each team bats for one over unless it is all out earlier. The team that batted second in the match bats first in the Super Over, and the side scoring more runs wins regardless of wickets lost. A home-and-away match that remains tied after its Super Over is recorded as a tie, with one point for each team. 4

Finals use a different resolution. If a Super Over is tied in a finals match, subsequent Super Overs are played until a winner, subject to the available time and the competition conditions. The latest document also allows Cricket Australia to limit the number of Super Overs where unavoidable time restrictions apply. If a finals Super Over process is abandoned, the higher-placed team has the published fallback advantage. These are WBBL|11 clauses; confirm them against the WBBL|12 document when Cricket Australia posts it. 4

A Super Over is not a separate ladder win that should be added manually to a table. The match result determines the competition points. The WBBL|11 conditions explicitly treat a home-and-away tie after an exhausted Super Over as a tie, not as a two-point win. 4

How equal points are separated

If teams finish the preliminary matches on equal points, the latest official WBBL conditions give a defined sequence. First compare net run rate. If still level, the team with more wins is higher. If still level, compare the number of ties. If the teams remain equal, the team with more wins in matches against the other team or teams tied on points is placed higher. If no separation remains, a bat flip decides, with a coin toss used if a bat flip is unavailable. 4

This order is important for a points table because a team’s win count is not the first tie-break. NRR comes first under the latest published WBBL rules. The table should therefore preserve the official NRR precision supplied by the competition provider rather than reconstructing positions from rounded values.

Net run rate: the official calculation

The published WBBL definition calculates a team’s net run rate by subtracting its average runs per over scored against it from its average runs per over scored by it across the competition. In simple terms, it compares scoring speed with the scoring speed allowed. 4

There is a specific all-out rule. If a team is dismissed before using its full quota of overs, NRR uses the full quota to which that innings was entitled, not the shorter number of overs actually faced. This prevents a collapse from making the denominator look artificially small. 4

Only matches in which a result is achieved count for NRR under the latest conditions. A plain no-result or abandonment therefore contributes its competition point but does not add an incomplete innings to the NRR calculation. If a rain-affected match reaches a result using Duckworth/Lewis/Stern, the conditions specify how the par score or a score one run below the final target is credited for NRR. 4

The DLS provision should not be improvised from a generic T20 calculator. It is tied to the official match record and the exact target and overs allocated in that match. When the WBBL|12 table becomes available, its official NRR should be treated as the source of truth.

WBBL|12 finals route

Cricket Australia’s WBBL|12 schedule announcement sets out a three-match finals series after the home-and-away campaign. The third-ranked team hosts the Knockout against fourth. The Knockout winner travels to the second-ranked team for the Challenger. The Challenger winner then travels to the regular-season leader for the Final, hosted by the team that finished first. 2

The published WBBL|11 conditions add the detailed fallback framework: in the Knockout or Challenger, a tie with no possible Super Over, a no-result or an abandonment awards the match to the higher-placed home team. For the Final, the reserve-day provisions apply first; if the rescheduled Final still cannot produce a result, the higher-ranked preliminary-round team is declared champion. 4

Because Cricket Australia has not yet listed WBBL|12 conditions on its rules hub, those fallback details remain the latest official published WBBL rule set rather than a confirmed WBBL|12 amendment. The page should be refreshed when the WBBL|12 document appears. Until then, the responsible current status is simple: the season is preseason, the official table is unavailable, and no club has a verified WBBL|12 rank or NRR.
