SEASON OPENER · 10 Jul 2026

A Big Bash first: Renegades and Scorchers open in Chennai

On 12 December, BBL|16 begins outside Australia for the first time: the Melbourne Renegades are the designated home side against defending champions Perth Scorchers at MA Chidambaram Stadium.

Cricket Australia lists a 2:40 PM start in Chennai. The unusual setting makes this more than a standard home game: the Renegades and Scorchers begin the 40-game league phase in India before the Australian run starts three days later. The match is scheduled, not played; there is no result, confirmed XI or toss to report yet.

FIXTURE WATCH · 13 Jul 2026

Christmas Eve returns and the final lands on 26 January

BBL|16 has 40 regular-season fixtures followed by four finals, with the league phase ending across 16–17 January double-headers.

The Melbourne Renegades host Hobart Hurricanes at Junction Oval on 24 December. Sydney Thunder and Sydney Sixers bookend their city rivalry on 19 December and 15 January; two Melbourne derbies are allocated to the MCG. The Qualifier is listed for 19 January, Knockout for 20 January, Challenger for 23 January and final for 26 January. Finals teams and grounds depend on results and are not assigned here.

SQUAD WATCH · 6 Oct 2026

Player movement reshapes the eight club lists

Jonny Bairstow is on the Renegades list, Adam Zampa and Shai Hope are at Hobart, Finn Allen moves to the Stars and Zak Crawley joins the Scorchers.

Tim Seifert features among the Sydney Sixers signings while Lockie Ferguson is listed with Sydney Thunder. The season roster tracker contains currently contracted players rather than locked match-day elevens; clubs can make further signings, and national-team commitments or fitness may affect availability. Our squad tab preserves that distinction and dates its snapshot.
